We have been hearing about BMTC procuring new buses and announcements are made  on timely basis. Finally inline with the announcement, BMTC, inducted new prototype buses from Tata motors into its fleet, this month. This is the first step towards acquiring 1658 new  buses as part of its fleet expansion. These prototype buses are based on TATA LPO 1512c 218″ wheelbase, conforming to BS4 emission norms and body is built my KMS Coach builders, Bangalore.
These buses have features like station display, passenger announcement system, health-monitoring of these buses, GPS and Intelligent transport system in addition to regular features like electronic display boards. BMTC sources said that these will be placed in ordinary buses category and 350 of them have been purchased. It is important to note that BMTC is buying buses after a gap of over 2 years.
